Frequently asked questions
General
All riders must wear comfortable, fitted clothing including long pants and boots with a heel. English riders should wear breeches (leggings are fine in the beginning) combined with paddock or tall boots while Western riders typically wear jeans and western boots. Your hair should be tied back.
While we do provide lesson helmets, after your first few lessons I highly recommend purchasing your own.
Please remember that this is an athletic sport, so no tube tops, crop tops, shorts etc.
First lessons are always Privates.
If you have riding experience this first lesson will be treated as an evaluation. This ensures that 1) We are on the same page. 2) We mesh together as student & trainer. 3) Your lessons can start at the appropriate level for your experience. This is not to judge you as a rider! We are all at our own stage in our journey and it would be a waste of both of our times to go over things you already know.
If you are a beginner: We will start from the very beginning. I like to get my riders on the horse the first day, but these first several lessons will also introduce you to horse care and tacking. Beginner riders should expect 1-2 months of Private lessons before you are cleared for Group lessons.
If the student cancels with more than 24 hours notice: the lesson will be made up as the schedule allows during that calendar month.
Without 24 hours notice: your slot is forfeited and no make-up will be scheduled. Exceptions can be made at the trainer's discretion on a case-by-case basis. 3 No-call, No shows will result in expulsion from the program.
If I have to cancel due to inclement weather: a make-up will be scheduled during the month.
There will be times I will take vacation and these lessons will not be made-up. This is a scheduled break for me, you and the lesson horses.
Refunds will not be given under any circumstances.
During inclement weather we will have in-barn horsemanship lessons. These lessons are vital to the overall foundation of any rider and are a necessary requirement for participation in my program.
If the weather is too dangerous to make it safely to and from the barn, the lesson will be rescheduled at my discretion.
